EU-UN Spotlight Initiative Nigeria Annual Narrative Programme Report 2022

In 2022, the Spotlight Initiative focused on establishing programmes and strengthening the human and institutional capacities of its partners, both government and civil society organizations (CSOs), towards eliminating VAWG and harmful practices and the improvement of the uptake of SRHR, especially amongst young people and persons with disabilities. Implementation was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, which regressed some of the gains made, but offered other opportunities to innovatively programme for GBV. These opportunities include the adoption of online communities to reach young people, as well as monitoring these programmes remotely. Phase II of the Spotlight Initiative implementation focused on a programmatic shift towards sustainability. This programmatic shift intensified institutional strengthening by increasing the capacity and responsibilities of national officers, particularly in service delivery and data.
