Maiduguri Flood: RC/HC leads UNCT to Maiduguri, pledges more support to affected people

The UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Nigeria, Mohamed Malick Fall led the UN Country Team and other partners to Maiduguri to have an on-the-spot assessment of the situation and to also engaged with the affected people, and the government on the UN support to the affected people and communities.
He reflects on the challenging situation at Asheik Jarma and Yerwa GSS camps visited by the delegation. He highlights the social protection issues for women and children, the limited space for decent shelter, and the deficit in water, sanitation and hygiene. Mr Fall calls on the international community and the private sector to urgently support the humanitarian response in Maiduguri.
