Integrated Approach to Building Peace in Nigeria’s Herders-Farmers Conflict - Call for Applications – Shifting the Narrative through Peacebuilding Initiatives: Youth Creative and Media Engagement

The United Nations Integrated Approach to Building Peace in Nigeria’s Herder-Farmer Crisis project is seeking youth multimedia creatives and media participants to participate in a four-week virtual capacity building program on risk communications and ethical reporting.

The peacebuilding project is looking to create awareness on the peacebuilding processes around the herder-farmer conflict, as well as to sensitize multimedia content producers on ethical capturing of the issues and project results in the targeted states (Benue, Taraba and Nasarawa). As the COVID-19 pandemic has brought new dimensions to the dynamics of violent conflicts within the Middle Belt Region, this project seeks to integrate a peacebuilding strategy into the current COVID-19 response plans across the three states.

Participants will be awarded a grant to facilitate travel to local communities to gather content. At the end of the four weeks, participants will produce short films which focus on promoting peaceful coexistence between farmer and herder communities, highlight key gender considerations for fostering peace, economic benefits and opportunities for both men, women, youths and other marginalised groups as well as sensitization of men to the needs of youths, women and other marginalised groups in the community.
